Penguin
Ernest, Agatha, William
Visual series for Penguin Books portraying children styled as young versions of literary figures, building a narrative where reading is directly linked to identity and personal development. Each portrait represents a character; Ernest, Agatha, and William, inspired by iconic writers, reinforcing the connection between childhood and classic literature.
Art direction follows an editorial, cinematic approach, using dark neutral backgrounds to isolate the subject, allowing wardrobe, expression, and props (books) to tell the story. Lighting is soft and directional, adding volume to the face while enhancing textures such as fabric, hair, and paper.
In post-production, retouching plays a key role through skin refinement, desaturated color grading, and contrast control, achieving a nostalgic and elegant atmosphere. Visual consistency is maintained through a controlled palette and centered, almost painterly compositions.
The result is a refined and conceptual campaign that elevates the book as an aspirational object, creating an intimate emotional connection with the viewer.
